Wherever I Damn Well Please (#11)
In the end, it all happened pretty quickly. That is, until you factor in the 2 years I was without one. But now, I finally own a car again.
Okay, "own" isn't exactly the right word as I'll be paying it off for awhile. But for all intents and purposes, it's mine. To use for all intense purposes.
I would post pictures, but I neglected to take one yet. And now it's dark. And I leave for camp tomorrow. But hopefully later.
It's a 2007 Toyota Corolla. It's silver with a spoiler on the back. Initially I didn't really are about a spoiler, but this was the only one he could find. But now I really like how it makes it look.
I am incredibly excited. Now the only thing between me and wherever I want to be is the open road. I plan to hang out with a lot of people I haven't been able to see in too long. If they'll have me, that is.
And not that it was in doubt, but I've definitely proved that Los Angeles is too spread out. The car had 3 miles on it when I left from the USC campus yesterday. I drove home, which of course took forever. Then today I drove down to check out Watts Towers (another thing from my list, but I'll have to write about that one and post pictures after I return) and back.
Now the car has 95 miles on it. Thankfully, I don't plan to drive back and forth to campus every day. That will save a lot of time and money.
If you're wondering how I got a car on campus, I went through this service called the Trojan Auto Buying Service. I met with a guy and told him what I was looking for, then he looked around and found the best deal and did the haggling and had it delivered. He wasn't so great about staying in touch, but once I got a hold of him earlier this week, he got a car to me by Friday. The main reason I was using this was that using public transit to visit dealerships without a car would have been a huge pain. So overall, the service accomplished what I wanted it to.
My last car was a 97, and it served me well. But I realized back then that many of my friends had named their cars, and I never had. And it felt weird to give it a name after having it for a few years.
So this time, I've already named the car. It's cute without being pretentious. To some, it's just an everyday thing, but to me, it's special. It makes me happy just thinking about it. Therefore, the name fits it perfectly.
I bet you can't wait to see my new car...Pam Beesly.
